AIJAN Excerpt: Introduction

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

MEET DIVINE: female, thirty-seven, slaphappy, young at heart, self-employed; an online newbie, living in New York. She is fresh out of a long-term relationship and has completed the two-year mandatory wound-licking I-hate-men mourning period. Unfortunately for Divine, someone neglected to inform her that dating has been upgraded to new millennium level. But maybe she shouldn’t worry…hemlines aren’t the only things that have gone up.

Thirty-somethings are premium dating material now… at least for the twenty-year-olds … Divine’s experiences are the basis for the story I call Age Is Just a Number, a lens through which to view the world of online dating.

Review: Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Hi Folks,

Here it is, my first review for Mind and Media’s blog for books program. It’s a great program that’s beneficial to publishers and authors. The publisher or author sends the books to Stacy, CEO of Mind and Media and she disseminates them to a reviewer base of over 200 hundred. A reviewer gets a book by show of interest on a first come first served basis and in return the reviewer reads and reviews said book.

Upon completion of the review, the book becomes the property of the reviewer. That’s right, FREE books. (There is however a $25 fee when first applying to become a Mind and Media reviewer. This fee serves to separate the lookie loos from the serious reviewer. After that no other fee is ever charged–unless you receive and retain a book you never review, then there is a penalty charge of $50.)

AIJAN Excerpt: Foreword

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

This book (or “blook” as it has been recently coined)is based heavily on my blog Age Is Just a Number, which was created to recount an extraordinary two-year span of my life. Due to my hectic work schedule and doubts about the feasibility of readership, project AIJAN ground to a halt after a mere two episodes.

Best New Author Award

Friday, February 10th, 2006

Okay folks,

I sure could use your help on this one.

I’d like you to take a moment to nominate me, D.S. White, for the Best New Author Award at Cushcity.com.

“Nominate you?” you ask. “But I’ve not even read your book as yet… what’s up with that?”

The 411

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the abandonment of late, but here’s a mini update with what’s been going on with me.

  1. After 6-1/2 years my church met three weeks ago and agreed that last Sunday would be our last worship service. Since the governing body is a separately corporate indentity, that will in no way affect the DTA (Don’t Throw (it) Away) program we recently started in Maxwell High School, targeting the troubled teens. Little did I know when I wrote the piece Endings and New Beginnings, how on target I would be. Although I will relish not having to travel two hours each way from PA to NY every Sunday, I will miss the fellowship of my sisters and brothers.
  2. I’ve been busy revising and rewriting AIJAN, the reasoning you can find here and it will be re-released by March 1st so all subscribers and people on my waiting list, look out for an email from me around that time with a discount code for either a percentage off the list price or FREE shipping.
  3. I’ve ordered my ISBN’s for my publishing press in the making and they should arrive next week. This will facilitate my using my press’ name on my book instead of Lulu’s which screams POD (Print on Demand, which is looked down upon in the literary world. Yeah, yeah, folks always gotta have a reason to hate… LOL)
  4. I’ve also been busy setting up websites/blogs for the publishing press to be, an author site for me, and an online bookstore, so much to do, so little time with which to do it — but ever so much fun! (Here’s a sneak peek at the possibilities to be had from templates and shopping cart software courtesy of my Siteground.com hosting package :) Divine Truth Press(1), Divine Truth Press(2), Read Zone Online Bookstore, and D.S. White, Author(1), D.S. White, Author(2)
  5. I’ve started another blog (yes, another one) in a book pitch/book publishing community which I feel will be great exposure for me and my book, because the topic I’ve chosen to cover is self-publishing for the first time author. And did I mention that although part of a paid community, this blog is FREE? (Yes it is!)
  6. I’ve been sick off and on all week, going to bed at crazy hours: 8 pm, 8:30 p.m and 9:00 p.m. For those of you who know my sleep pattern, you know that’s waaaaaaay early for me.

Anyways… just wanted to let y’all know that I’m still alive and kicking.

Till next time,
Dee
